L1 to H1 outside company

Hi

I am on L1 with validity upto March 2014. I am thinking of converting to H1 through a consultancy as these days L1 extensions are not happening. My husband is on L2 and also planning to get H1 done.

My doubt is if my H1 gets rejected, can i continue on L1 till its validity (March 2014). Will this rejection affect my Dependent (L2) also.

Please help clarify.

Generally speaking, if a petition to change to H1B status is denied, this would not impact the individual's existing L-1 status.
