June79
I am a U.S. citizen by birth and my wife is a foreigner. We got married abroad and currently reside outside of the U.S. (The embassy here processes green card applications) Question: Is there a deadline for my wife to enter the U.S. upon issuance of a green card, such as "Must enter the U.S. within 3 months of issuance of permanent residency" Thank you! JoeF
She would get an Immigrant Visa and become a Permanent Resident when entering the US with the Immigrant Visa. The GC is only issued once she has entered the US with the IV. The Immigrant Visa is valid for 6 months after issuance, so she needs to enter no later than 6 months after issuance of the IV.
