L1B Visa & I94 expired and applied for I9-4 extension, So what is the impact If I leave US now?

Hello Experts,

I am a consultant on L1B Visa in US. My L1B Visa & I-94 are expired on 2/1/2013 and my employer has applied for my I-94 extension here, waiting for the reciept number as of now.

But now my employer is asking me to travel back to India.

So what is the impact of my overstay If I leave US now without knowing the I-94 exentension status?

Will this overstay without I-94 extension would impact on my future visa and travel to US since I am a consultant?

How many days it will take for legal to confirm my I-94 extension status?

Will my I-94 extension application will be cancelled if I travel before Legal response? and what is the impact on my future travels?

Kindly advise me how to proceed now?
