avangapalli Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Hi, I was offered an intern position in a company "A" from April 17th 2012 to September 17th 2012, I applied for CPT and OPT at the same time. After I received CPT which was valid till May 31st, I worked on CPT. I received my OPT on July 10th. I then continued working from July 10th. On september 17th, 2012, I submitted my employment end date at school. As I continued working at the same place, I DO NOT REMEMBER if I updated my start date of employment on OPT at that company which is July 10th to my school but I am sure that I updated my end date of employment at that company. I joined Company B in mid october, I went to India and returned on November 27th, Immigration officer asked me for my EAD card, he checked it and gave it back to me. I had no problem anywhere. My concern is, If I did not update my Employment status, I might have been out of status as I received my EAD on July 10th and joined company B in mid october. (95 days unemployed if I did not update). DO you think my EAD expired if I did not update my employment status in school? NOTE: I had thesis report remaining to be finished by december 2012, school offered me POST COMPLETION OPT on condition that I should finish it by December 2012. I am worried if I am out of status or not. If my EAD card is expired, immigration office might have not allowed me in, is it because I did not graduate, he allowed me eventhough my EAD expired? If it expried, when company B runs a background they will get to know that my EAD expired right? I am so confused, is my EAD expired? Please help
