Hi,

I am in H4 visa. Can i start a business in US? is there any restriction to start business when i hold H4 visa?

You can invest in a business (anybody can), but you can not work for it, in any form, not even for free.

In essence, you can only be a passive investor, putting money into a business and otherwise staying out of it. Think of it like buying stock of a company. For example, if you buy Microsoft stock, you become a co-owner of Microsoft, as passive investor. That doesn't mean that you are working for MS, or have access to their bank accounts or offices.
