Attorney_11
Petition Information Management Service (PIMS) is a database which provides a method for consular officers to rapidly confirm that individuals requesting an H, L, O, P, Q, or R nonimmigrant visa were, in fact, the beneficiary of a corresponding petition approved by USCIS. PIMS allows consular officers to access and confirm USCIS petition approval data and supporting documents online; thereby speeding up the issuance of nonimmigrant visas while reducing costs and heightening security. From time to time, transmission of pertinent information from USCIS to the PIMS database is slow, causing delays in visa issuance. The Department of State typically in the grand majority of cases clears the delay in 1 to 5 business days, though longer delays are possible and not unheard of. Link to comment

Attorney_25
Is "PIMS update" main cause of 221g ? Who do i ask to verify whether my PIMS info has been updated or not ? No, and the consular officer will let you know at the interview. There is no way at this time (at most consulates) to confirm this in advance. Link to comment
