weizhang0131 Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 I currently work with an H1-B visa. I filed a patent when I worked for my previous employer. I was notified yesterday that my previous company licensed my patent to a company and will send me some patent royalties. Can I accept it? I do not need to do anything. I know that I can only work for my current employee. But it seems that I do not need to provide any services for this royalties. Thank you.
wiweq Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 I think this money is earned by the previous work done with proper authorization so there should be no problem. I would recommend to spend a couple of hundred $s and contact an attorney to make it sure.
