  • Cut Red Tape for Employers. The proposal also eliminates the backlog for employment-sponsored immigration by eliminating annual country caps and adding additional visas to the system. Outdated legal immigration programs are reformed to meet current and future demands by exempting certain categories from annual visa limitations.

Hi Being Optimistic about the proposal would be a reality, how long it might take to clear all the current backlog?

This question cannot be answered at this juncture -- and optimistically it will be a while before there is answer -- and there is no guarantee that there will be an answer (immigration reform could go nowhere).

First, what the White House / President has put forward is simply a statement of objectives (what they want to see in legislation). There are now some bills being introduced in Congress that start to take the process to the next level (e.g. the Immigration Innovation Act of 2013), but even those bills still need more detail and legal language before they can proceed through the legislative process.

There is some reason to be hopeful, and it is important to keep informed about the status of employment based immigration reform through reading the proposed legislation and reputable legal and authoritative analysis. Do not rely on what people post on Internet forums.
