darkshadow1985
Hi I am on L1 Blanket visa and below are my visa related expiry dates: I129S - valid till 23-JUN-2013 Visa - valid till 23-JUN-2013 I-94 - valid till 01-SEP-2015 1) Since my I129S petition is going to expire in JUN-13, do I need to apply for extension of petition, though I have valid I-94? 2) can I stay and work in USA with expired petition, expired visa and with valid I-94? 3) If answer is yes for 2) does this cause any problem in future if I my company applies for L1 Visa again for me? Need your inputs regarding these. Thanks for your help in advance. regards, Newbie Link to comment
Attorney_23
In general, the expiration date of the I-129S and/or visa does not impact a foreign national who is in the U.S. in valid L-1 status. However, the blanket must be valid/unexpired in order to reapply under the blanket. Link to comment
Guest vaibhaw.nikhara
Hi, My case is also same. I just want to know that "the blanket" means I-797 document. If yes and I-797 says that Petition Valid Indefinitely that means we can legally stay and work in U.S. on the basis of I-94 expiry date. Also there won't be any problem in future if we apply for any U.S. visa? Link to comment
darkshadow1985
Hi, I have the same question as does the above user. On my I-797 it says petition is valid indefinitely. Link to comment
Attorney_23
If the blanket petition is valid indefinitely, that generally means the employees do not have to be concerned about the expiration date of the blanket approval. Link to comment
luck2u
L1B visa holders can stay and work in United States as long as their I-94 is valid. I got this confirmation from US Consulate, Chennai last year when one of my friend sent an email to get clarification on this. So, all L1B's can stay as per their I-94 validity as your petition's expiry date says indefinite. Link to comment
