H1takenback
My H1-B will be revoked by my employer on February 1st. How long can I stay in the country to settle my affairs. Will it be a problem for future visas to the US if I stay back by 15 days or so? Link to comment
JoeF
You are out of status from the day of the layoff. It is recommended to file for a change of status, e.g., to B2, if you need some time to settle stuff. And the employer by law has to pay for your return ticket (not for dependents, though.) wiweq
"Will it be a problem for future visas to the US if I stay back by 15 days or so? '" Don’t take risk of even one day. As everyone said, from the next day of layoff you will be out of status. Plan to file a COS (form I539) a day before layoff starting your next status from the day of layoff. Link to comment
