Eb3 to EB 2

Hi

I have an approved I140 on EB 3. I did my BS in Electrical Engineering from the US and have 5 years of experience (last 3 with my present company).

I want to apply for EB 2 with BS + 5 years of experience and also want to stay with my present company. In what circumstances can I apply for EB2 with my qualifications. If there is an opening in my company for a job that requires BS+5 years experience and I get a promotion and qualify for that job will I be able to file my GC for EB2?
