Nagaraju Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Hi All, I am on H1 and I got the visa, my I94 was not collected by the airlines when I checked in at the airport, I did not realize it until I got into the plane. I am not sure on what to do, as there is a mixed response on this when I googled about it, some says we need to send the boarding pass and an explanation letter to an address and some says airlines usually updates it online and need not to worry about it. Could some one please help me with this. Thanks Raju
futureeb2 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Yes, in the past you needed to mail it to CBP. But for the past few years CBP says that if you left BY PLANE then it is not an issue as they actually rely on the flight manifest to record your exit. So in your case, you dont need to worry about it. If someone leaves by LAND, they do need to mail the I-94 to CBP along with proof that they were outside the US (such as a photocopy of an entry stamp froma different country).
