Mysterion Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 Hi, I'm planning for H1B Visa stamp in Canada as well, I have few questions in the IMM5257E form In Details of Visit to Canada what should I write for 1. Purpose of Visit? 2. Indicate how long you plan to stay? Thanks.
mohdsohail.uddin Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 Hello Mysterion, hope this helps: 1. Purpose of Visit? -- To visit US Consulate inToronto for H1 stamping 2. Indicate how long you plan to stay? -- 2 weeks
sh21 Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 1. Purpose - To get H1B visa stamping done, you need to fill in DS 160 and also take H1B visa appointment from vfs website 20-30 days before applying for canadian visa and attach printout of H1B visa stamping date confirmation email and DA 160 to support it 2. Stay length - 3-4 days
swetha1621 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Hi , i did through priority mail and got the visa in one month.
Amp23 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 For me it took around 1 week, so I guess you can have ETA as 1 week. Hello MSU, I understand that you applied for Canadian visa by mail. 1. Did you first book H1B visa interview, and then applied for Canadian visa, or the other way around? 2. Did you have to mail proof of your air tickets, or your US visa appointment date, along with your Canadian visa application? I am planning to first get my Canadian visa and then fill book the H1B visa interview in Canada, just so that I don't want to miss my H1B visa if the Canadian visa arrives late. However, the catch is, since I don't know the dates for H1B visa yet, I am not sure what I have to enter in the 'Dates of visit' section. Am I doing it in the wrong order? Please help. Also, has anyone here, mailed their passport and application form to the Canadian embassy in Detroit? Any details on that, as in, time taken to return the passport, is appreciated.
ny2012 Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 you will receive in a span of 3 weeks maximum
itisme Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 My documents were received in the NY office on 14th JAN2013 and I received the stamped passport this morning (26JAN2013). So it took 10 business days even though the website says at least 3/4 weeks. Hope this helps
sh21 Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 Thank you all. I received visa on 30th Jan. It took 2 weeks exactly
