wayfind Posted January 16, 2013 Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 hello, I completed my Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering in December 2012 and I am currently on my OPT expiring in Dec 2013. I work full time for a research institute and they are not E-verified so my OPT cannot be extended further inspite on being in the STEM program. They said they will convert my status to J-1 as my OPT gets over and then after 2 years will convert it to H1b. I am not sure whether this is a good option after completing Master's degree as so far I have heard that J1 visa works well for Post docs. Is it possible for me to change my company on J1 or get converted to H1b from J1 with some other employer? thank you Link to comment
