rr1122 Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Hi All, I have couple of questions about my wife's eligibility for applying citizenship, she holds a greencard from June 2006 she took re-entry permit and went back to her home country in August 2006 to complete her education and came back in July 2008. We are confused about her continues residence as we read in the instructions that it should be 5 continues years but there is also a point where it says if she is out of country for more that 1 year she can get 364 days counted towards her continues residence so is she already eligible (I'm not a citizen so continues 3 years residence don't apply) All replies are greatly appreciated.
JoeF Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 If she was out of the US for more than one year with a reentry permit, she can apply for naturalization 4 years and 1 day after return.
