Hi I applied for OPT extension before completion of my opt but I did not sent my docs because I am still waiting for my updated i20. I completed my degree this december but did not get my i20. my opt expired on dec third week.

A: If you have applied for OPT stem extension (I-765) before your initial OPT expired, you are fine. But you need to send the required documents to USCIS for OPT stem extension approval. In order to get new I20 need to ask your college DSO to generate a new I20 before your initial OPT expires. If your I20 is not generated before your OPT expires, your DSO has to request SEVIS help desk to help you issue new I20 to submit to USCIS for OPT Stem extension process.
