H4 - Passport still at US Consulate

Me and my wife attended together for our H1B and H4 visa interviews respectively, at the Chennai consulate on the 20 Dec.

The interview went smooth and we both got our visas approved. My passport has been delivered to the visa collection center but my wife's passport is still at the US Consulate. Calling the consulate helpline doesn't help in getting any more info.

I am starting to get worried. Does anyone here know what might be the probable reasons behind holding her passport back? Is this normal that dependent's passports are delivered late? If yes, how late is ideal? I have my return flight on the 30th and am now beginning to think, we may not make it.

[PS: We weren't informed of any admin processing on anyone. We were just told that both our visas were approved.]
