I-94 validity during cap gap extension

I received my cap gap i-20 which is till Sep 30. I checked with University student office and they have said that I am legal to stay till I get my H1. My H1 b is approved on Dec 2. I received new i-94 starting Dec 2. My old i-94 was valid until F1 status. Does the old i-94 cover the period between October1 to Dec 2 and come under F1. Please advise.

The cap gap period is considered by USCIS to be lawful F-1 status and is an authorized status in the United States.
