EB2 GC - prevailing wage question urgent - please advise

My employer is putting a second application for GC in EB2 as first one was in EB3 in 2008. But now I am in manager position with 6+ years with current employer and as per the job requirement of BS + 5 years, employer is filing a new application under EB2. Employer is american firm with over 50000 employees worldwide.

the prevailing wage came higher for the Eb2 position (over 15% than my current salary). Company attorney said prevailing wage can be higher than current as GC is future employment and I only have to get the prevailing wage amount as salary before applying for I-485. Please advise if this makes sense and is correct. I need to know what attorney said was correct as per current requirements?
