Multiple (simultaneous) family-based GC petitions

Has anybody gone sponsored (or been sponsored for) a family-based GC petition when there's another family-based petition pending? I see a lot of material on the web about multiple employment-based petitions or even simultaneous employment and family petitions. I also noticed filing parallel family-petitions being mentioned as a "tip" in

Any thoughts? I will probably be consulting a lawyer before going ahead, but if someone has some evidence against the practice, I wouldn't bother. Thanks!
