Booking a visa slot before H1B amendment

Hi,

I'm in the process of getting my H1B amended with the new client location. Do I have to wait till its done to book a visa slot? In the sense, will I get a new H1B receipt number with the amendment or will it remain the same as the old one?

As per my knowledge, you will get a new H1B receipt number...

I did n't wait till my amendment is done...

I have booked a slot with initial DS-160 (with old receipt number)

Later created another DS-160 (with new receipt number) after amendment approval and updated my appointment information with new DS-160 information.

Hi Their,

I was in the same situation as you are. I booked my appointment with old receipt number and yes, when we file for amendment we get a new receipt number which can be updated later.

You can go ahead and book appointment with your current receipt number.

Hi , I am also in similar situation . I have filed for the h1b visa extension 2 days back but wanted to book the appointment with the existing 797 petition number . Can I book the appointment with the existing petition number and update the appointment information with the new petition once I recieve it as I need to travel india in Feb first week and wanted to book the slot for Jan . Can you please suggest . Thanks in Advance
