Visitng Visa to Canada (Ottawa Stamping)

Hi Guys,

I got a lot of help from this forum on my H1 and now I am applying for stamping.I have sent my visiting visa docs to my friend in LA and he submitted in person to embassy but the embassy folks told him that it can only be deliverd to the applicant after approval and not in-person.Its almost a week and I am not sure as how to contact them regarding my passport , since I have mentioned my friend's address on all forms.

Questions

1) How i can contact the embassy in LA regarding my passport

2) I have booked my appointment on dec 24th and i guess it would be slow since it a month of holidays and is it preferable to book later or earlier

3) I was looking out for accomodation in Ottawa, can someone help with that.

In person VISA processing takes 3-5 days, if you've posted the documents it takes 10-12 business days, here are the contact details for LA, Canada Consulate
