Issue with dates on I797 (H1b Extension)

Hello,

I had my H1b extension approval last month but my actual H1 was expired on 19th of september, I got the extension approved but the problem is start date for extension was from 24th of october instead of 20th of september, Is that ok. or will I be out of status for that month.

Actual H1 Expiration: 09/19/2012

H1 Extension Receipt date: 06/12/2012

H1 Extension Approval date: 10/24/2012.

You should be good as long as you filed extension prior to 09/2012. You can retain with receipt notice just be safe side showing you already applied in Jun 2012 but this 4 month was processing time.
