soulraider
Hello all.... Can some one please explain the difference between the I-797A and I-797 C. My employer sent me the I-797C form, Does it make any difference if I use that in my renewal of my licence? Thanks in advance... Link to comment
rohang
C is a courtesy copy. Which USCIS sends before sending a original "A". basically you can think it as a official photocopy of you document. If its not very urgent then wait for "A", its good to carry original copy, you never know how knowledgeable DMV person is, in terms of immigration topic. Link to comment
shandan
you get I-797A when applicant is in the US and I-797C when the applicant is outside the US. 797A would have the I-94 attached, whereas 797C wouldn't (because you are not in the US) Without the I-94 I do not think DMV would be able to issue you a drivers license bcoz they would not know for how long your status is valid. cooldude76
I797C is not an approval notice, hence licence cannot be renewed on that basis. Maybe its a better idea to upgrade the case to Premium Processing. All the very best. Link to comment
