Supraja Kantipudi Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 Hi All, I am having dual citizenship (India and NZ). I entered US as a dependant holding h4 visa, then converted to F1 and completed my masters. I am on OPT for 1 yr and then converted to H1B recently. So I decided to go for my stamping to canada as I have Permanant Resident status. But i heard that we have to go to our home country for 1st time stamping. Can anyone suggest me if i can go to canada and get my stamping done? or do i have to go to NZ or India?
fin.naresh@gmail.com Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 as far as I know, In Canada it's allowed.
vijayendhar Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 I dont think it is mandatory to go back to your home country. I had a couple of my friends go for stamping even though it was their first time. The case with them was. Citizens of India, entered US as students on F1..converted into H1b and worked for a couple of years then went for stamping. They didnot have a problem getting stamped. All this happened 2 months ago.
amarishpor Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 I have stamped first time H1B visa on this week Monday in Toronto. It doesn't matter if you'r going first time or second time.
