Use of F2 visa for job-search / transfer to H1

I'm a legal student in USA. My Fiance is a masters student in Canada. She'll finish her graduate studies soon and plans to come to USA and look for a job.

Should she try a tourist visa to face interviews ?

What're the disadvantages if she enters USA in F2 status and looks for a job ( to transfer to H1) ? she doesn't have SSN number.

Any Suggestions will be appreciated.

Until you are married she cannot be F2. Unless she already has H1B available to use, she cannot have an employer file until April 2013 for work beginning Oct 2013 unless the employer is cap exempt.

Thanks for your reply. For us, getting married is about time. But, some people told me its very tough to convince employers on F2 visa. I got confused. Is there any truth behind the comment ?
