H1B validity or transfer possibility after a break?

I recently got my H1B which is valid till Sep 2015. I wanted to take a years break from my job so planning to resign at this moment. Does my travel break outside US cancel my H1B visa permanently? Or would I have the option of being able to find a job later and get my H1B transferred to the new employer?

Please advise.
