Belle
"Start Date on my green card is 10 July 2011." There are a lot of dates in the immigration process, and none of them are called start date. You need to provide more detail, and provide them in a way people can understand exactly what you are talking about. Link to comment
green2011
Hi, I got my green card in mail on 7/19. On green card it says Resident since: 7/10/2011 Card Expires: 7/10/2021 Unfortunately I got laid off on 7/20. I was a programmer so I am at home right now looking for similar programming jobs. However i am thinking, (1) I still get to keep my green card right? (2) Can I start a business on my own as IT consultant or software contractor? (3) Can I go to India for couple of months ? I have a severance letter and small severance package that proves that I did not leave the company. I am in good terms with company and HR. Link to comment

nsai1130
You are absolutely fine to do whatever you want. On top of that, since you did not leave the country and have a severance package..., you can show them on your way back from india. They will not hold you now that you have a physical card ;) Good Luck!!! Link to comment
