EB 2- NIW

Hi,

I am thinking of applying EB-2 NIW as my employer is not applying for my GC. I have gone to a lawyer and he says I can do that.

I have a bachelor degree in engineering and have 9.5 years of work experience in IT.

My first question is - Is this possible?

And if this is possible can I extend my H1-B beyond 6 years provided my EB-2 NiW is filled before 365 days of my last date or it is approved?
