Applying H1B and L1B visa expiring but I94 valid till next year

Hi,

My current L1B visa is expiring next month and i have valid I94 till 2014, current employer infomed you can stay with your I94 till it is valid in the mean while next year will apply H1B for you,

my question

1. is there any question will arise from USCIS why i didnt apply for L1B Extension ?

2. once H1B approved will i get new I94 or i can be with old I94 how this will work ?

1) you can stay, but you will not be able to travel outside US before your H1b application is approved and your I797 comes back.

2) If its a COS, then you will get I94 with approval notice, and this I94 will have same number as in current I94, but with update appropriate date..
