can we update the I-797 after scheduling the visa interview?

Hello everyone,

I need some help regarding my H1b visa process.

I got my H1 transferred from my old employer to new one while I was in the project. As soon as I received my confirmation my project was finished. Now I got another project working with the same employer. I know I have to apply for H1B amendment and planning to apply next week.

All of a sudden I'm planning to visit India next Feb and planning to apply for visa.

Questions I have:

1. Can I schedule the interview for my visa with my current I-797 or I-94?

2. If yes, as soon as my H1B amendment is done can I update my I-797 for the same visa appointment?

3. where can I check the available dates for Visa interview in Vancouver? what is your guess for availability? (im thinking to attend in end of Jan)

4. suppose if I don't get the visa approval, can I comeback to US with the I-94? (I was told that they don't take our I-94 to visit to canada)

any more suggestions will be appreciated.
