PERM process and changing jobs

Hello,

I have been on a H1B visa for a year. About two months back my current employers started my PERM residency application. I am looking for a new job which I can start only from Aug 2013 according to the clauses at the present position. I want to know how would the PERM application process be affected if I leave my current position and begin a new one in Aug 2013.

Any help with in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Generally, the PERM Labor Certification is for sponsorship of a future job. If the employer plans to offer you the PERM position when you receive your green card, then the employer may continue with the PERM process. However, if the employer no longer wishes to sponsor you for a permanent future position when you leave the company, then they will stop the PERM process. Your new employer will likely need to begin a new PERM application on your behalf.
