Changing job when perm application process just started

Hello Forumites,

I am on an H1B work visa since Aug 2011. My papers for the perm application were filed by a lawyer at my current work place in Sept this year. I am considering applying to jobs at other organizations and am wondering what happens to the perm application process which has just started if I get a new job? Due to the clauses at my current work place if I do get a new job I can only leave my current position in July 2013. I can begin the new job in August 2013. Please advice the complications that may arise to the process if I leave my current job and begin a new one.
