Travel to India on OPT

Hello All,

I am planning to travel India during this Decemeber and return back in first week of January. At this point I am on my OPT extension which will end in April 2013, so would that be of any problem at port of entry considering my I-20 which will be valid for less than 3 month from January.

Could be, or could be not, usually if you have less than 6 months left on your return on OPT there can be issues, but it is not a rule, I have seen stuff happen either way, get a back up plan for just in case scenario.

When u say "stuff happen either way", does that mean some one whom u, had issues at port of entry and had to return without entering USA?

I have my employer letter with me, not sure if that could make any difference.

depends upon Border Patrol.....if they feel you are an immigrant they might not let you in....completely their decision

My advice: Do NOT travel when you are on OPT. This is general rule & written in red ink on USCIS wedbiste.

"We do not gurentee your return .....when you are on OPT....."

It's the riskiest situation when in transition
