Staying after H1B Period due to a new born

I would like to know if there is a possibility to stay more days after H1B expires dude to a new born? My visa is going to expire on Feb 6, 2013 and the due date of my baby is Feb 2, 2013. I may not have the option of extending the H1B as my perm is pending and it will not be 1 yr old if does not get approved by then. Please suggest me alternatives to stay for 3 more months. I appreciate your response.

Talk to a good immigration lawyer, you may be able to file for an extension based on the pending PERM application, and there may be other options to get a temporary stay in US due to medical condition.

If your H1 can't get extended, the only option would be to change to B2.

There is no medical condition rule for somebody on H1.
