Does time spent on H3 visa count against H1B six years

Hi I spent one year on a H3 trainee visa Oct 2007-2008. My company then filed for an H1 and I have been on H1 since then. I need to renew my H1 (expiring Feb 2013). I believe that I still have until October 2014 on H1, though some people say that the year I was on H3 has to be deducted too. Is this true. Can someone point me to the relevant document?
