rishikeshhere
My wife who is working on an H1b for the past 3 years is pregnant. Will the company or state pay her any benefits such as paid leave? Link to comment
JoeF
There is some leave in the labor laws. For what the company provides, she would have to consult with the company HR. She also should check her employment contract. She read it before signing it, right? Link to comment
t75
Typical maternity leave is 6 weeks (8 for c-section). If she becomes disabled, there may be pre-delivery leave. Payments are based on the company policy that aplies to all employees. FMLA, if the company is required to give it, is 12 weeks unpaid. CA is the only state I know of with some maternity benefit. She should start looking for day care or a nanny for your baby. Do not plan for your family to come on B-2 visa to babysit. Be sure to look at the dependent care tax advantaged account that you need to sign up for at open enrollment this year to assist in paying child care expenses next year. Link to comment
