dvs
Hello, Has anybody stamped their H1B visa for the first time in Brazil? I am planning a trip in Dec this year but saw that the latest available stamping dates in Vancouver begins from Dec 19 which is a too late. SoI was wondering if stamping in Brazil is even an option. I know that it is recommended to stamp in your home country but that is not an option for me as of now. I don't want to take any major risk but if anybody has done it before without any issues, then I might consider it. My Info.: I did my master's in US and am working since one year. I got my H1B in June this year. Thanks ! Link to comment
sajja01
If your case is Pretty much straight ( EVC, EC) and if you can get all the supporting( client.. Vendor.. Letters ) documents . they you can consider Ottawa too as an option. Link to comment
dvs
I am aware about the other options in Canada. The next closest for me will be Calagary. But I didn't wanted to fly to Calgary or any other location just for stamping. So thought, if Brazil is an option. Anyone? Please share your experience. Thanks ! Link to comment
DontWorryBeHappy
Brazil is not proven and Canada/Mexico are proven. Try your luck there. It will be nightmare if you get 221(g) in Brazil. If you still want to try then I would suggest you to mail them first and find out whether it is ok. Link to comment
abhishekreddy1
As far as I know, You are only allowed to go for stamping to Canada or Bahamas in ur case (F1-> H1, 1st time stamping). Correct me if Im wrong. Link to comment
dvs
Oh..ok..not sure on that. I emailed the US Consulate in Rio and this is what they replied: "We would like to inform that all questions regarding new visa application procedures, documents needed for first application or renewal, scheduling, waiving of interview, fees and information on passport return should be verified on the link http://usvisa-info.com/en-BR/selfservice/ss_country_welcome from U.S. Visa Service. We also recommend the Frequently Asked Questions on http://usvisa-info.com/en-BR/selfservice/ss_FAQ_GSS. Information about the step by step of the visa application and required documents can also be verified on our website through the linkhttp://brazil.usembassy.gov/niv-apply.html." Their reply didn't help much. But I guess I will play safe and get my stamping done in Canada. Thanks all for your help ! Link to comment
