Hello,

I got my H-1b approval i797B without I-94 for my current approval. The letter states that I need to go India and stamp but I have valid I-94 from previous employer untill next september 2012.

I am planning to go India this December 2011. Do I need to go consulate if I have valid i94 from previous employer?? Could be risky while coming back at US airport immigration???

I guess your situation is similar to mine. I have a valid I-94 till January 2013 from my previous employer too. But, since changing employers, my H1b (I-797 approval notification) has been extended till mid-2014 but I will need to go to India for H1B stamping.

If you have quit your previous employer and now are working with current employer (who requested the H1B transfer) then its best to go ASAP.

My H1B transfer was approved on August 26th but change of status not approved (I am still waiting for original approval notice to confirm this). Once I have the approval notice I will leave for India (maybe in a week or so).
