Is there a one year stay in the US in L1 required before applying for GC

Hi,

I am currently working as a Director in a foreign branch of a US company. My parent company in the US is planning to apply for L1 visa and eventually for Green Card for me. They also mentioned that I will need to work in L1 for one year before they are allowed to appy for Green Card. Now my question is, is that a mandatory requirement to have that one year gap between L1 and Green Card or they can actually apply for the green card much earlier.

That seems to be a company-specific rule.

Joe is correct, there is no immigration law requirement that employee be in L1 status for 1 year before applying for a green card.
