Driver Lic. renewal WITHOUT the original H1B extension approval from USCIS

Hello. Need immediate help. Thank you for your responses in advance

My H1B expired in June this year as my new NJ Driver Lic was issued till Sept 10th 2012( Issued in March 2012).My Visa extension was filed in May 2012( still pending approval). I was informed by my lawyer that due to a large H1 rush this year during the time he filed for my H1, USCIS has issued H1 extension receipts on white paper. Most Dmv's in NJ are not accepting the it as an original document since they have not received any Memo from USCIS.My driver lic. expires soon. Any suggestions what can i do?
