laskan2k
My license is expiring in a couple of days and when i went for renewal, they said my case has to be verified with USCIS SAVE and it days a few days. 1) Is there anything i can do to expedite the process? 2) In the mean time, is there anyway i can request for a provisional (temporary) license so that i can drive till they get a decision from USCIS? 3) I got H-1B stamping in May and travelled back a couple of weeks back. Is this verification required as i have entered recently? Please clarify/help. Thanks. Link to comment
kshis13
You need to wait till your DMV gets an authorization from DHS SAVE. You cant drive till you have a DL. Link to comment
wiweq
"1) Is there anything i can do to expedite the process?" => The same thing happened in my case. They sent my I797 to be verified by SAVE process. It failed, they again did it manually. The whole process took 30-40 months for approval. There is nothing called temporary/ provisional driving permit. After expiry of driving permit you HAVE to stop driving. I would suggest to other fellows to apply for DL renewal in 2-3 months advance.
