Return of Old I-797 to Old Employer

Hi ,

I have transferred my H1B Visa recently from A to B. I have the original approved copies of H1B from B. Now A is asking me to return the I-797. Should I return it to them ? Do I need original in future ? Please suggest and assist what to be done here. Quick responses appreciated.

By law you should have only part of I797. Get the scanned copy of whole I797, tear the lower part, keep it with you, and return the upper part of I797 to your employer. Lower part of I797 has the receipt no and employer name for you record.
