JoeF Posted August 3, 2012 Report Share Posted August 3, 2012 It depends. Is the H1 employer a consulting company? Client letters are required for H1s from consulting companies. If you work for a "normal" employer, a client letter isn't needed. Link to comment

If you have client, then you need a client letter. However, there are very few chances of getting approved without it. But may be risky for stamping. Link to comment

For H1B you need a job.If you work at the client location(like most of the consulting firms do), then you need to show the proof of contract between your employer and the client, duration of the project, etc...
