L1B to H1B transfer

Hi Murthy Forum,

I have currently working with Company-A on L1B visa. I have accepted an offer with Company-B who is applying for my H1B under exempt cap in premium processing. On an average, premium processing takes around 2 weeks to go through and be approved.

My question is

Once my H1B is approved, how long can I continue to work on L1B, before I start my job in Company-B ? This will help me decide when do I put in my papers in Company-A and also on my date of joining in Company-B ....

If a petition to change status to H1B is approved, the foreign national would lose his/her L1B status on the date indicated on the approval notice. The petitioner can request a future date, so the date H1B status would become effective would generally depend upon what was indicated in the petition.

My H1B petition is pending approval with change of status. It is a cap subject H1b petition.

If it is approved, by default my start date will be 01-Oct-2012.

Can I request for the start date to be after 1st Oct ??

Please help me with this question.
