H1B visa stamping Canada or Home Country.........

I am working as a Full Time employee for a Top Tier MNC and I am in my 7th Yr of H1B and have approved I797 for another 2yrs. H1B visa stamp from my previous employer has expired in my passport.

My Questions:

1) If I leave US do I have to go for stamping and get a valid Visa stamp of my current Employer before entering in US.

2) Can I use my form I797 at POE while coming back without going to US consulate for stamping.

3) Is it a better Idea to go to Canada(ottawa or Toronto) for H1B stamping and not at my home country. Since post visa stamping from Canada I could spend more time in my home country on vacation rather then visa stamping and all the hassle.

Experts pls advise and if anyone could share their similar experiences.

The visa is a document needed to step foot into the country. Thereafter the status matters. So therefore:

1. Yes you do need a visa.

2. No, cause you still need the visa.

3. Better to go to your home country since you can have a nice long wait at Canada which would cost you a lot of money for a hotel unless u know someone who can put you up for an unknown period of time.
