akki80
About me EC model H1b renewal stamping, Vancouver 20th July. Vancouver experience was good. I had appointment at 10.am but went 9.00 am and was able to get in queue . Visa stamping process is smooth, they ask for 797 ,passport and visa confirmation at reception then there willl be one waiting area and you have to go to counter 1 and get token.they also take your 797,passport and visa confirmation (think for some kind of verification ).then your number is called and they return you your documents then on your turn they escort you to 20th floor.after waiting for few min you are called for fingure prints verification. Then you are called for interview. She was young lady VO: Good morning,Can i see your 797,passport& confirmation me :handed over documents VO: Whom do you work for ? Me: XXX VO: you work for client ? Me :yes VO: How long ? me: you mean client ??? VO: No your employer me: oh from oct 2010 VO: and this client? me : almost 3 yrs VO: Whats your job responsiblities ? Me: Explained her everything VO: where is your employer located and client located? me : told client dallas employer NJ VO: How you report to your employer ? Me: we have daily status call and as we have development center local to client area we have weekly meetings VO: but you said your employer is in NJ ? me: yes, but we have development center in dallas VO: I am liitle confused ??? can you show your 129 & labor docs me:I got tensed, handed over docs (see went through page by page, and saw the work location mentioned ,it matched with what i told) VO:ok, do you have recent paystubs? whats your payrate or salary ? Me: pay rate $XX/hr ,handed over payslips (all 2012) she just saw paystubs VO: you visa is approved,Please collect in 3-5 days me:Thanks So what i learned is Vancouver is really a nice place to go for stamping, process is smoother than India as i have done stamping earlier. Some tips don't take anything to consulate, not even car keys.We rented a car and unfortunately had to hide keys in car somewhere. There is parking lot right infront of consulate. Don't take too much tension of client letter they do not ask that frequently here. I had anyways but my friend who went with me did not and VO did not ask it he was approved without hasstle. So dont get scared when people making fuzz about client letter.vendor letter can be sufficient. Be confident thats all matters....All the best Link to comment

We stayed in days inn metro, its decent. Prices are little higer in canada than in US. Also yes you can rent a car with your US licence,I will advice to book it online before you can get good deal and discount. You can activate roaming canada with ATT its 4.99 activation and then pay per use think 50 cents/min. All the best Link to comment
