What is H1 Amendment? Is it a new H1?

What is H1 Amendment? Is it a new H1? Will the current I 797 number will change. Is it advisable to apply extension at the same time? Can anyone please let me know what is the difference between H1Amendment and H1 Extension?

If an H1 amendment will or will not "create another level of uncertainty" is irrelevant.

It is required to file an H1 amendment whenever there is a material change. That includes a change of geographic location. Period.
