I have been calling the Dept of State to get a status update.

Based on your experiences, Does anyone know if the update given by Dept of State is accurate compared to the Consulate we are dealing with?

Can you please let me know the contact number that you contacting the Department of State. I am contacting the Embassy but they dont have any information regarding my application. They just saying the processing is being done outside of this office by US Govt and i dont know what that means. So i appreciate if you can provide me with that info.

DOS is definitely more accurate and have upto date info on every case. Though they do not reveal lot of info but sometimes they give some very relevant and useful information on your case.

I use to call them during my 221g days and 2 out of 5 times use to get some useful update from them.
