Can I get a I-94 with my H1 Extension if it is approved after my current H1 expiry

Current Status : H1B valid till Sep 25 2011.

Filed for extension in premium processing method but attorney says it might take past that date to get the approved and extended H1B.

Question: If my visa is extended after that date will I get an I-94 or do I have to go back to my home country and get a I-94 on re-entry.
